Blue Dot takes a deep look at issues surrounding one of the world’s most diverse waterways, the California Delta. Where the huge watersheds of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers meet up in a labyrinth of islands and channels before emptying into the San Francisco Bay, the Delta is home of a rich ecosystem that has been degraded over time by agricultural use and water diversions. Host Dave Schlom is joined by geologist Jeff Ludlow from California Fly Fisher magazine to discuss the unique geography and geologic history of the delta and then we dive into the complexities of water policy, diversions and ecosystem impacts with Letitia Grenier and Jeffrey Mount, senior fellows at the Public Policy Institute of California’s Water Policy Center. It’s a must listen for anyone trying to understand the complexities of water issues in the golden state, past present and future.
